Hey everyone :) It was asked of me to post a recipe that I had mentioned in a previous post for these delicious oatmeal almond chocolate chip cookie balls so here it is! I took recipes that I have found for healthy cookies and combined them so if the recipe looks somewhat fimiliar that's why! Here you go ladies !
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cup chick peas (garbanzo beans)
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup rolled oats
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup agave (or honey)
1/2 cup almond butter
2 tbs peanut butter
Dark chocolate chips
*If your almond butter or peanut butter doesn't have any salt, you can add a sprinkle!
Directions:
Turn on the oven to 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients in a mixer besides the chocolate chips. Make sure to mix until their are no clumps! Add chocolate chips and stir them in by hand. Make into approximately one inch balls and bake them for 10-12 minutes! Let them cool off and settle before trying to pick them up. They will not fully harden.
Grab a glass of almond milk and enjoy!

About Me
- bowsbootsandburch
- Lately I've felt as if my life is in an unorganized jumble. One minute I'm on a workout kick and the next I'm obsessed with fashion and beauty. Honestly, I think I've been so worried about keeping up with everyone else instead of just doing me. I figured I would begin a space where I could post outfits I wear and enjoy, recipes that are delicious, and general things I do on a daily basis... in other words, I'll post my life. Workout Schedule for the Week!
So that last little post just didn't work out. I could not exclude everything but fruits and veggies from my diet! I'm a teenager that gives in to cravings. Anyways, here's to a fresh start. I have created a plan for the next five days until I go out of town Friday night. I am going to visit my boyfriend so I want to be looking good and feeling good :) You could say this is my own little version of the 5 day slim down. I will be using workouts from the #friskyfall weekly schedule and some other workouts from Karena & Katrina's YouTube channel! Feel free to join me this week for a healthy lifestyle crack down :)
Keep in mind that I do go to school and will be in a 45 minute Aerobics gym class every day. You can see on my schedule that on days when I am busier *AKA days that I work after school* I used gym class as a work out.
I hope to remain healthy in my eating habits these next few days, too! Thank goodness for Tone It Up. SO excited for this week!
*Sidenote: I made some healthy peanut butter dark chocolate cookie balls today. They were delicious!! Let me know if you would like the recipe. *

One Week "Cleanse" Challenge
So I know that it is important to fuel your body with carbs, protein, fruits, veggies, etc. But if you didn't know this, it is actually good to cleanse your body of toxins every once and a while. You can do so by only eating fruits and vegetables. I know their are some people out there who will not agree with this so called "cleanse", but I have personally done it and it helped my body before. For the next seven days starting tomorrow, I am going to challenge myself by attempting to eat only fruits and vegetables. Here are my personal rules to the challenge:
- ONLY eat fruits and vegetables
- May drink Naked Juice
- Drink half your body weight in ounces of water each day
- Drink green tea every night
- NO SWEETS
- Work out ATLEAST once a day for 30+ minutes
If you looked at my previous Challenge, some rules are the same. If anyone is interested in trying this challenge with me, message me on Tone It Up! Please no negative comments about my choice to do this. It is a temporary plan to cleanse my body and hopefully will get my tastebuds to stop craving the taste of sweets!
I work at a bakery and will be working four times this week. I am hoping planning this out for myself will prevent me from eating sweets and snacking on unhealthy foods. Thanks for reading! Since I am beginning tomorrow, my update post will most likely be up next Sunday. Thanks for reading!

Five Day "Challenge" Update
After my hard work this week, I have my schedule of the last five days and will also include the main rules that I set for myself. The only thing I found difficult to do was work out twice a day but I made it work as much as I could. Also, keep in mind I was traveling Thursday and Friday and couldn't really fully complete those days. I am very happy with how this turned out anyways because the main idea was to get me to stop craving sweets all the time and to restart my healthy lifestyle, which it did. Although I couldn't work out certain times, I still understood and followed the main idea of the schedule as best I could. I would recommend this to anyone trying to start up their weight loss or healthy lifestyle! Here were the main rules I set for myself:
- Drink at least half your body weight in ounces of water each day
- Eat slower!
- Avoid adding extras (salt, seasonings, sugar, etc)
- Work out twice a day
- Drink a cup of green tea every night (boosts metabolism)
- No sweets!
- Try to go to bed as early as possible
My Week:
Monday: 132.6 lbs
Booty Call (Morning workout): 35 minute power walk
M1: Protein pancake with strawberries and black coffee
M2: Banana
M3: Luna Bar
M4: Pistachios
M5: Pork and veggies with green tea
Evening Workout: 30 minutes interval elliptical with TIU summer sizzle routine
Tuesday: 129.6 lbs
M1: Chobani with granola, fruit, and black coffee
Booty Call (Morning workout): 30 minutes of power walk/pilates
M2: Skipped
M3: Fiber one bar
M4: Banana
M5: Grilled chicken and greens with green tea
Evening Workout: 30 minutes interval elliptical with TIU toned and lean beach day routine
Wednesday: 128.4 lbs
M1: Two egg whites on a slice of ezekiel bread with black coffee
M2: Banana
M3: Luna bar
M4: Skipped
M5: Grilled chicken wrap with carrots, hummus, and green tea
Two Evening Workouts: 3.5 mile run/walk and one hour yoga class
Thursday: 128.4 lbs
M1: Steel cut oats with strawberries, blueberries, and black coffee
BC: 30 minutes of rumba
M2: Skipped
M3: Carrots and luna bar
M4: Pistachios
M5: Indian food (chicken, veggies, rice) and green tea
No evening workout
Friday: No scale in the hotel room!
M1: Mini yoplait light yogurt, banana, and black coffee
BC: One hour walk
M2: Apple
M3: Luna bar
M4: Black coffee
M5: Indian food (chicken, veggies, rice)
I was disappointed I didn't finish this completely by not working out twice the last two days, not having green tea or the correct amount of water the last day. It was difficult while traveling. Although this is the case, tomorrow I have decided to start a new challenge. I will create a new post about this in case anyone cares to do it with me! I am starting tomorrow as a head start but generally, you could start it at the beginning of the week (AKA Monday). Thanks for reading!

Think About It, Do It
SOOO it is time. Time to stop whining about not wanting to work out, time to feed my body what it needs to fuel itself instead of what sounds yummy, and time to shed those pounds. I am the queen of excuses. I will make up a reason to let myself eat a donut. I'll convince myself I need that cookie with my sandwich. It all just needs to stop. I am so sick of letting myself eat something bad and hating myself afterwards. I just want to be happy.
Earlier in the summer, I went through two months when I ate extremely healthy and exercised 4-7 times a week. I loved myself. I loved my body, I loved my energy, I was just genuinely a happy person. I don't really know what has gone wrong since then, but I have slipped into old habits. I am so afraid of gaining back all that weight that I worked so hard to get off.
Today I woke up with a new mindset. I told myself that tomorrow was the first day to a new week, a new beginning, and I needed to crack down and just DO the workouts. DO the healthy meals. Just DO it. Stop making excuses. I told myself that baby steps will make it easier to start up my healthy lifestyle again. So here is my goal: 5 full days of healthy eating and working out. Although I will be traveling two of those days, I am going to try to keep to my word and make it happen because I can't wait around any longer hoping my mind will change itself and stop wanting sweets and junk food.
This post was written in the hopes that I will keep my word to myself and do these next five days with everything I have. If I can do this, my steps back to a healthy lifestyle will only become smaller and smaller.
I am going to use the Tone It Up guidelines to help me decide what to eat and when and how to work out. I will be posting a full 5 day recap by next Saturday or Sunday. My alarm for my morning workout tomorrow is set! Wish me luck

September 2013 Wishlist!
So this would be the kind of post where you will definitely be able to see my inner prep shine through the most. I have been lusting over so many things lately that I can't help but post about it. Can't wait to chop down the list one by one!
First is the Tory Burch wrap bracelet in this particular tan shade. I have the wrap bracelet in a turquoise color, but it isn't something I feel like I can wear in the fall and the winter. I want to get this one to match my Tory Burch boots. You can find this at a Nordstroms or Tory Burch store by you! Click here to find it online.
Next is another monogram necklace! This one specifically is from Bauble Bar. I am looking to buy the gold dipped large pendant on a 16" chain. If you were curious, my initials are CEH! Here is where you can find this lovely necklace online.
The last piece of jewelry on my wishlist is this 1837 Tiffany ring. I don't know what attracted me to this one over all the other ones to choose from, but something did. Definitely a splurge, but I want! Here is the link to the ring from Tiffanyco.com.
My only clothing item is a Southern Shirt Co. spirit jersey. I don't think I will be purchasing this specific color called Lemonade since it isn't quite suited for fall, but I am not sure which color I like! Comment below about which you think I should get. Here it is.
Last but certainly not least is this croaky from Vineyard Vines. I know summer is over and I won't be wearing my sunglasses often, but I totally want it for next summer! The navy color is definitely my favorite out of all the options and it is super traditional. You can find it here for only $8.50!
What have you been lusting over lately?

Happiness
This blog post is inspired by a video from my favorite person to watch on YouTube, SarahBelle93x. She posted a video a few days ago that I watched earlier tonight titled "Happiness". I figured it would probably be some cheesy video, but I love Sarah as a person so I thought I would give it a chance. You can watch the video for yourself here.
I have always thought of Sarah as a role model, fashion icon, and am always amazed at way she never stops smiling. I would have never expected her to say the things that she did in this video. I won't give the entire video away in this post, but I'll probably quote a few things she said that really hit home with me. I think the reason it was so inspirational to me was because lately I have been feeling the exact way she was describing. She says it's "like a plateau; you aren't depressed but you aren't happy; you're just kind of there," and she describes it as, "the worst feeling ever." This is exactly how I have been the past two weeks or so. I am in a rut. I don't have motivation to work out anymore, I always break my healthy diet with sweets, and I have really been down about myself.
This video was exactly what I needed. After watching, I got up and decided to go on a little night stroll. In the video, she says something like, "the only one who can get you out of your rut is you." I knew I just needed to get up and out of the house because it was the only was I could stop this slump I'm in. I used my Lorna Jane app to track my time, speed, and calories and made the walk fun by putting on some country Pandora. Once I got home from the walk, the energy that I had made me remember why I loved being active and healthy so much. I get this natural energy that makes me feel happier and better about myself.
This post may seem lame to some, but if it helps anyone out there then it's worth it to me. If you have been sitting in bed, living an unhealthy or generally lazy lifestyle, do something to change it. It doesn't have to be drastic, but go for a walk. Instead of pancakes for breakfast, have some greek yogurt with granola. As a good friend of mine says, "Each good choice will make it easier for you to make another good one."

Life Update and JCrew Haul!
So it has been a little bit since I have written anything and their is a culmination of reasons for that. I don't feel the need to make excuses because, frankly, this is my personal place to write about whatever I want whenever it comes to me, but I will let you know what I have been up to.
I have been super busy. My boyfriend left to go play hockey in Michigan for the year so that was a bit of a sad time for me. Other than that, I have started my senior year of high school with a bit of a rigorous schedule for my taste. I work four days a week almost every week and barely have time to do homework, let alone something I actually want to do like write this post. Since it's a three day weekend, I figured I would take some time to take a breath. So hear I am, ahhhh. I went to J Crew Factory the other day for a little retail therapy and ended up picking up some cute fall pieces.
Although I already own the J Crew Puffer Vest in Navy, I decided to take advantage of the Labor Day sale and pick it up in the green and tan colors as well. This vest is the perfect way to add to an outfit and make it look more put together...not to mention it does a very good job at keeping me warm!
Next, I grabbed these burgundy and cream patterned skinny jeans for the fall time. I have a lot of cute spring and summer patterned pants from J Crew but no fall colors really. These would look great tucked in my LL Bean Boots!
The last thing besides a couple pairs of jeans was this scarf. It has some great fall colors and could be paired with sweaters, v necks, or any simple top really. I hope to get a lot of use out of it this season!
Now that it is officially September 1st, I am getting excited about the cooler weather and breaking out my favorite fall essentials and these newer pieces, too!

Seventeenth Birthday Celebration!
Yesterday was my 17th birthday. (Yes, I know! I'm young) I celebrated with friends and family and although the day was simple, I had a great time. I took the day off from my healthy eating plan and ate whatever my heart desired. Let me take you through my day :) I woke up around 9:30 and enjoyed some chocolate chip french toast with strawberries and some coffee. I just laid around for a bit, but then decided to go to Nordstrom Rack. I bought a few tops, an adorable pair of Tory Burch berry-colored pants that fit like a glove, and some cute Kate Spade jewelry. Starting my day off well if you ask me!
Next, I went out to lunch with my mom to this yummy indian place that we love. Not many people like indian, but it is one of my favorite things! Most assume that because it's indian it is probably spicy but that isn't the case.
I began getting ready for what my friends told me was a surprise. All I was supposed to do was dress cute! I wore my new Tory Burch pants, a black cut out top, and some black sparkly sandals. My friends picked me up and we headed to my boyfriends house where we opened gifts.
I got these super cute Michael Kors studded sandals in pink! They are adorable. The perfect way to spice up an outfit.
My boyfriend got me this cute tortoise shell bracelet and a matching ring. These will go perfectly with my watch! So excited to wear these. They will probably push me to dress up more so that I can wear them :)
We went out to dinner with a group of 7 of my good friends to Maggianos and enjoyed some good food and fun. I had a great time!
I didn't want to share all my gifts and get comments on being spoiled or ungrateful or anything like that so I am going to leave it at this. I loved everything and am super grateful and happy with how my birthday turned out! Hope you guys are having a great day and thanks for reading.

Healthy and Easy Breakfast Ideas!
When I wake up in the morning, well... let's just say I'm not a morning person sometimes. I want something that's going to give me long lasting energy throughout the day. After joining Tone It Up, I have discovered some quick and yummy breakfast options that start my day off right.
Steel Cut Oats with Fruit and Truvia
This is one of the fastest, yummiest breakfasts that will get you ready for your day. I buy frozen, portioned out steel cut oats from Costco by the brand "Every Day Made Simple". Stick it in the microwave for 3 minutes. Then I add fruit, normally strawberries and blueberries, along with half a packet of Truvia sweetener. Delicious!
Egg and Veggie Wrap
This breakfast takes a tad longer to prepare, but is yummy and filled with protein and some carbs to get you energized. First, I dice some red pepper and onion and cook it over the stove. Then I throw in two egg whites until they are fully cooked. Pour it all onto a whole grain wrap and roll it up! You have yourself a delicious breakfast.
Greek Yogurt with Granola and Fruit
This is another sweet breakfast. Take some greek yogurt, I usually choose either vanilla or plain Chobani. Put it in a bowl with your choice of granola. My favorite is the original Kashi Crunch granola. Top it with some fruit and you have a delicious breakfast with the occasional crunch!
Energizing Smoothie
Want something to make and take on the go? Grab a few of your favorite fruits and veggies and blend them up. It is also a good idea to include some protein, so I like to add some Perfect Fit brown rice protein to mine. Any brown rice protein you can find is good! I like to include things like banana, strawberries, blueberries, avocado, kale, and spinach. For liquids, I would recommend almond milk, coconut milk, or maybe even a little greek yogurt. Try different combos and see which is your fav!
Wake up a little late one day? That's okay, but don't skip the most important meal of the day. Grab a banana or an apple with some kind of bar. My all time favorite are Luna Bars, but I've heard Kind bars are a good option, too. Hope you enjoyed this post! Let me know what your favorite breakfasts are.

Michael Kors Watch & Wishlist!
So I think it was two years ago when my grandma got me my first expensive watch for my birthday. We had been flipping through a Nordstroms catalogue and I pointed out a watch I thought was cute. Next thing I knew, it was wrapped in a box waiting on my kitchen counter on my birthday! Although I haven't been able to track down a place still selling the watch, here is what it looks like.
Although it was a total splurge and one that I didn't myself need to make, it was completely worth the money that she spent. This is the most high quality watch I have ever had. I wear it all the time with my Michael Kors Padlock Bracelet:
After having the watch for a while and really testing out the quality, I am super excited to purchase my next one. Michael Kors comes out with tons of adorable watches for any style or occasion. I am seriously debating starting a Michael Kors watch collection. Here are some of the models that I am interested in purchasing.
This is the Taylor mini rectangular bracelet watch. I was really intrigued by this watch because I think gold looks really nice on a rectangular model watch. I know Kate Spade does a model sort of similar with rhinestones down the side of the face. Here is where you can purchase the watch for $180:
http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/michael-kors-taylor-mini-rectangular-bracelet-watch-20mm-x-22mm/3490994?origin=category-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=0&fashionColor=&resultback=257&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-browseresults-_-1_1_C
I am totally in love with this Preston chronograph bracelet watch! I think the combination of the white and the gold would look amazing and would definitely bring out a summer tan. You will probably be able to tell that I am big on gold, even though I still enjoy wearing silver every once and a while. Michael Kors has always made his white model watches with silver detailing, atleast as long as I can remember. I think the gold is a nice change! You can buy this watch for $295 here:

The last watch I have been lusting over is this blinged out rose gold watch called the Runway logo dial bracelet watch. I don't own anything rose gold, but I think it looks super cute, especially with matching accessories. This is definitely a statement watch! You can buy this for $295 here:

Favorite Fall/Winter Boots!
Once the weather begins to cool down and it's time to wear pants and boots, I have a few pairs of boots that I would recommend to those looking for a pair. All of these options are comfortable and stylish, and they are convenient for many different weather situations! *All pictures taken from Pinterest*
The Riding Boot
When it comes to the typical "riding boot", I have a few pairs that I rotate through. My favorite pair that I own are these tan Tory Burch riding boots. They are a very high quality leather and completely worth the price in my opinion. I would recommend that if you are looking to get a pair of riding boots, you should invest in a nice pair. If you take care of them, they can last years. Other good riding boot designers include Michael Kors, Steve Madden, and Frye. If you are looking for a nice boot but are not willing to spend a ton of money for them, check your local Nordstrom Rack!
The Rain Boot
Although Hunter rain boots are probably the most popular and will last you a long time, I wanted to be different and bought a pair of the short Burberry rain boots. I figured that these would go well with a lot of clothing items since they are neutral and would be a stylish way to trek through puddles on those rainy fall days! Many of my friends own Hunter rain boots and really enjoy them. If you are looking for a specific color in a rain boot, I would obviously recommend the Hunter boots over these. If you would like your boots to go with many of your outfits, I would check out these. I wore mine to death last year!
The Winter/Snow Boot
These LL Bean boots are the perfect winter boot to get you through the cold weather and the wet snow. They have a rubber bottom and are neutral, so they look good with a lot of things! This boot is the perfect preppy boot to buy, especially at a steal of a price at only $99! They look best when paired with pants and cute socks peaking out of the top of them. If you would like an alternate for the typical Ugg winter boot and something that will last better through the weather, try these out!
As you can tell, it is super important to invest in good boots and take good care of them. You won't regret a purchase that will last you years, I promise! I am a little too excited to show off my boots this fall. If you are looking to buy a new pair of boots for the fall and winter, here are a few websites I would recommend checking out. *Note: the Tory Burch boots I own are no longer available unless you plan to look on places like eBay*

One Week of TIU!
So I have officially been a member of tone it up for one week. Since I have been just starting to get a feel of it and change my lifestyle little by little, I skipped some workouts and really focused on the eating part because that is ultimately my weakness. Working at a bakery, I am around sweets constantly and have learned to be a snacker. Even in one week I have changed my diet almost completely. I had a few moments of weakness here and there but over all did a good job at "fueling" my body rather than feeding it. Here is an overview of the past week.

Fall Essentials...Yes, Already.
So the other day I glanced at the calendar and realized it’s already mid August. Two months of summer flew by me and now I’m left with less than a month before school. Before I let myself get all miserable, I tried to remind myself what few things I enjoy around this time of year... like back to school shopping! So I set myself on the job to present you a list of fall essentials for preps. Back to school clothing, backpacks, shoes, you name it. Everything and anything a preppy girl like me would consider important for the fall time, and I’m revealing it to you! Here are some things you should consider checking out:
School Essentials:
Vera Bradley BackpackSo even though about everyone and their mother has one of these. For those people who actually care about doing school work and worry about being able to carry around your books, get the campus style backpack. For those seniors or slackers like me out there, get the smaller one. Everyone wins!

Monogram Coffee Cup or Tumbler
For those early mornings when you just want to take a crack at your period one teacher in the face, drink from your styling coffee cup instead! These are fun because their all yours and can help you get your day going in a positive direction when people constantly compliment your cup :)

Tumbler: http://www.marleylilly.com/Monogrammed-16oz-Hot-Pink-Double-Wall-Acrylic-Cup_p_2111.html
Fashion:
LL Bean BootsDepending on where your located, these boots can be a savior or way too hot on your feet. (Either way they look cute) I was born and raised in Maine before I moved to Chicago, so LL Bean is basically what I grew up wearing. These boots are great for fall but especially winter, and are so much cuter than uggs. (I am so over that trend)

Colored CorduroysIn the summer, everyone whips out their bright colored jeans. In the fall, I whip out my fall toned corduroys. Plum, navy, forest green, cranberry. Any darker colors look absolutely adorable tucked into that number three up there ^^. An array of colors to choose from can be found at J Crew.

Quilted Vests *MY NUMBER ONE ESSENTIAL!*
Believe me when I say I am completely and utterly obsessed with the J Crew Quilted Vests. I have one in navy that I have worn to death. I’m dying over the forest green and the nude one, so those will probably be my next purchase at J Crew. If you are edgy, they offer a hot pink and a black and white patterned one. I might even buy the hot pink for those days when I’m looking to stand out :)

Well that's all for now, folks. Thanks for tuning in! Let me know if you purchase any of these things.

Taking Charge of How I View Myself
Every girl says it at one point or another. "I hate my thighs." "My love handles are huge." "Im fat." In the past, I have struggled with my weight just like any other teenage girl, trying out this cleanse, that diet, anything to try to make myself that Victorias Secret Model skinny. One day I was watching one of my favorite YouTubers, BreeLovesBeauty, and she mentioned that she was part of the TIU team. I came to learn that this was a community of women online who follow the same eating pattern (five small meals) with two workout sessions a day. You are supposed to purchase a $150 nutrition plan and follow it to your liking while doing workouts that are given to you, along with your own choice of cardio. This intrigued me. I was inspired by multiple success stories, and finally, about a month later, I bit the bullet and purchased the plan.
It isn't every day I would just spend $150 on some plan that was supposed to make me happy with myself and energetic at all hours of the day. I researched this to no end. I never once heard a single negative thing about Tone It Up. I even purchased the Perfect Fit Protein that the founders, Karena and Katrina, made themselves. I purchased the plan less than a week ago. Since then, I have skipped work outs and treated myself with sweets, but still managed to lose 5 lbs. Yes, you heard that right, five meals a day with minimal workouts. Although I plan to become more serious about the work outs, this was definitely a boost in my confidence in the plan.
I went out and purchased a bunch of essential items on the grocery list and stuck to the recipes, having a meal out here and there. I learned to love things like greek yogurt, granola, and especially quinoa as a replacement for pasta. Ultimately, I have been teaching myself to fuel my body rather than eat what sounds good. I am very proud of the way I have been eating and I really hope to stick with Tone It Up for a long time. I have learned to make short term goals and achieve them, making me more and more confident after each one. I hope to work for myself and eventually reach my desired weight.
